Lincoln Electric is looking for an Assistant Buyer to join our Gainesville team. In this role, you will plan and purchase MRO supplies (maintenance, repair & operating supplies), packaging, component parts, products, and outside services for the facility, utilizing the SAP ERP system. You will be responsible for the timely planning, scheduling of receipt, and inventory control of assigned products.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and issue purchase orders in a timely manner.
- Track and follow up on open purchase orders.
- Identify opportunities for cost, process, and supplier performance improvements.
- Develop and identify alternative sources of supply.
- Conduct accurate cost/benefit analysis on returned quotes and provide recommendations.
- Prepare and issue Request for Quotes.
- Negotiate with suppliers for optimal price, quality, quantity, and delivery terms.
- Promptly resolve supplier invoice discrepancies.
- Evaluate supplier performance for quality, delivery, and commercial value.
- Resolve quality issues with suppliers.
- Work closely with internal customers including maintenance, engineering, operations, sales, and quality.
- Communicate professionally with suppliers and manufacturers.
- Maintain a safe and injury-free workplace.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Generate cost savings ideas and complete projects.
- Ensure supplier on-time delivery.
- Expedite and follow up on open orders.
What We're Looking For
- A high school diploma with a minimum of three years of related experience.
- At least 2 years of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) procurement or planning experience.
- Good working knowledge of Excel and Word.
- Comprehensive knowledge of procurement processes and procedures, including Request for Quotes, quote analysis, negotiation, supplier development, Kanban Systems, VMI Programs, Cost Control Management, MRP, lead times, and safety stock.
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal/external customers, suppliers, and co-workers.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Analytical with a proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Proven ability to identify and effectively negotiate to meet technical specifications and customer requirements.
Nice to Have
- A 2-Year Associates Degree.
- Certifications such as Six Sigma Green Belt, C.P.M., or APICS (CPIM/CSCP).
- SAP experience in procurement.
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
