Bechtel is looking for an Area Field Superintendent to lead construction teams on a large-scale power generation project. You will supervise craft professionals and subordinate superintendents, ensuring the safe, on-schedule, and compliant installation of underground commodities sitewide.
What You'll Do
- Supervise and direct craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and others as assigned.
- Schedule work to be performed and review work accomplished by each craft.
- Determine workforce requirements and coordinate established area operational plans.
- Oversee tool and equipment usage on the site, managing Field Material Requisitions.
- Ensure the most current design documents are used and all changes are approved.
- Manage assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance to comply with specifications, schedules, and budgets.
- Work with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals to interpret design and technical documents.
- Manage engineering solutions with Subcontractors, Foremen, and Craft Professionals.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a relevant technical discipline plus 10-13+ years of experience; or 14+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction engineering practices across all disciplines.
- Experience in planning, scheduling, procurement, and contracting.
- Ability to maintain a strong safety culture and work ethic within the craft.
- Ability to work extended schedules and night shifts as required by project execution plans.
- Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and a Zero Accident safety program.
- Extensive experience in civil construction of large projects.
- Experience with underground HDPE piping, fuel gas piping, conduit, duct banks, grounding grids, and cathodic protection.
- Minimum of 9 years of experience in field supervision on direct hire work.
- Sound understanding of performance management and advanced knowledge of production management, cost management, and communication.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience supervising National Building Trades (union) construction.
- Previous experience supervising various disciplines such as Civil, Mechanical, Piping, or Electrical.

You will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on the project, reporting to the Area Manager - Undergrounds.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position based in Cheyenne, WY, with potential work at various locations in the USA.
