Flex is hiring an Applications Engineer to partner with internal departments, customers, and suppliers in developing solutions for orders. You will work to exceed customer expectations while improving efficiency and reducing costs through technical review and proposal management.
What You'll Do
- Manage proposal, submittal, and documentation processes through communication between Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, and Manufacturing.
- Review technical specifications and electrical one‐line diagrams to propose the best product solutions.
- Review electrical and mechanical engineering drawings and internal specifications to process quotes and submittals.
- Perform cost analysis on quotes and completed orders.
- Review contracts and purchase orders for compliance with company standards.
- Coordinate with the field sales team to develop pricing for projects.
- Prepare quotation documents for project presentation.
- Record and communicate progress on sales opportunities, maintain sales databases, and prepare reports and presentations as needed.
- Communicate clearly and confidently with customers.
- Adhere to all relevant health and safety policies and practices.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of experience working on projects or solving technical problems.
- A minimum Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, marketing, or a related field and/or the equivalent of 5 years of practical work experience in a comparable role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively overcome objections.
- Ability to review technical specifications and electrical one‐line diagrams.
- Ability to review electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Good computer skills, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention‐to‐detail, and an appropriate sense of urgency.
Nice to Have
- Technical knowledge of power systems and power distribution.
- Practical experience with Customer Resource Management (CRM) systems such as SalesForce.
