Apex Clean Energy is seeking an Interconnection Manager to manage transmission interconnection requests for our fleet of renewable energy projects across multiple Independent System Operators (ISOs). In this role, you'll provide commercial and strategic guidance on our development pipeline while identifying and resolving project risks.
What You'll Do
- Manage transmission interconnection requests for Apex's fleet of projects in multiple ISOs (PJM, SPP, MISO, ISONE, NYISO, ERCOT, WECC).
- Manage queue projects, file interconnection requests, track progress, and coordinate with system operators and transmission owners on design, schedule, and cost.
- Review and translate the results of Feasibility, System Impact, and Facility Studies in each ISO and how they impact project schedule and costs.
- Oversee technical project details and work closely with electrical design consultants.
- Support Project Management and Project Finance by accurately communicating interconnection requirements, costs, limitations, schedules, and risk analysis.
- Identify, quantify, and resolve areas of risk that may affect project financing or offtake.
- Provide commercial and strategic guidance on the company's development pipeline, M&A targets, and operational assets.
- Create or improve existing technical and project management tools to aid in more efficient management of the interconnection project portfolio.
- Track changes to interconnection tariffs nationwide and participate in technical ISO/stakeholder workshops as required.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering
- 4+ years' experience in electrical engineering
- 2+ years managing interconnection projects across multiple ISOs
- Experience managing consulting engineering firms and/or contractors
- Excellent balance of technical, project management, and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate excellently with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent planning and organizational skills with a high attention to detail
- Demonstrated management skills and ability to manage deadlines and projects in a changing environment
- Ability to successfully work proactively and productively with limited supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated success at meeting deadlines, and the ability to manage many tasks, people, and projects simultaneously
- A positive attitude and comfort being flexible, adaptable, and solutions-oriented
- Passion for renewable energy
Nice to Have
- Master’s Degree and/or PhD in electrical engineering
