About the Role

The University of Illinois Foundation is hiring an Analyst, Prospect Development. This role supports advancement by identifying prospects with the capacity and propensity for major gifts, referring prospects to fundraising units, and providing research support and data enhancement for prospect management.

What You'll Do

  • Perform proactive and reactive research for contact information, wealth, philanthropic interests, and professional history.
  • Identify and refer prospects to advancement units for qualification of major giving potential.
  • Curate targeted prospecting lists by delivering collections of the best referrals for a specific objective.
  • Build strong relationships with advancement clients through portfolio reviews, team meetings, and prompt service.
  • Partner with units to review and optimize prospect portfolios.
  • Maintain the accuracy and completeness of prospect management data through auditing and cleaning.
  • Review contact reports and port data to structured fields.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for prospect management data and practices.
  • Educate fundraising staff on available internal trainings and resources.
  • Use data retrieval tools, including specialized dashboards, CRM query tools, and SQL, for prospect identification.
  • Successfully manage and appropriately prioritize requests from partners across the advancement enterprise.
  • Support strategic initiatives within UIF Research & Portfolio Management and represent the team in cross-functional projects.
  • Generate reports on a unit's prospect pool with summary statistics and breakdowns.
  • Load plan data in bulk to create or update sets of plans with similar objectives.
  • Lead training sessions and refresher courses in areas of expertise for team members.
  • Assist with the creation of training materials and onboarding programs for new staff.

What We're Looking For

  • A Baccalaureate degree.
  • 3+ years of experience performing both prospect research and unit liaison/relationship-management duties.
  • Familiarity with general online research techniques, methodology, and resources.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and formulate productive partnerships with individuals and groups at all levels.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend, explain, and operationalize complex data sets and manage sensitive information.
  • Experience with database maintenance and retrieval; experience with or a capacity to become fluent in SQL, Blackbaud CRM, and other analytical tools.
  • Competency in using Microsoft Office products: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.

Nice to Have

  • A Master's degree in Non-profit Management, Information Science, Business, Analytics, or related areas.
