What You'll Do
Design and implement reporting and visualization solutions that align with organizational objectives. Translate complex business requirements into functional technical deliverables, ensuring data accuracy, security, and accessibility across departments. Develop dashboards, executive reports, and ad-hoc queries using enterprise-grade BI tools to serve research, finance, and administrative leadership.
Collaborate with functional teams and IT professionals to integrate reporting systems with core university applications and cloud-based data environments. Lead testing efforts, including data validation and system integration, while maintaining compliance with internal standards. Support the full lifecycle of report development—from requirement gathering to deployment and documentation.
Contribute to data warehouse strategies, including data acquisition, archiving, and recovery processes. Mentor junior staff in best practices for report writing and system security. Act as a backup administrator for key reporting platforms and support user communities through knowledge sharing and technical guidance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in report and dashboard development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proven experience with at least one BI platform such as PowerBI, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Qlik, IBM Cognos, or Tableau
- Strong SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries and troubleshoot data issues
- Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal
- Customer-focused mindset with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment
- Experience working both independently and as part of a technical team, including leading small development efforts
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in higher education, healthcare, or medical research settings
- Familiarity with Agile project methodologies
- Experience working with Oracle databases in Unix environments
- Two or more years of reporting experience in student information, human capital management (HCM), or financial systems
- Proficiency in IBM Cognos and Tableau reporting tools
- Quick adaptability to emerging technologies and platforms
- Skill in converting business logic into technical specifications
- Development-level understanding of SQL and object-oriented data modeling
- Willingness to provide occasional on-call support
- Holding or ability to obtain Tableau Desktop Associate certification
- Workday Report Writer certification is a plus

Work across a range of business intelligence and data management technologies including PowerBI, Tableau, IBM Cognos, SQL, Oracle on Unix, cloud-hosted datasets, data warehouses, and Clarity. Engage with integrated systems that support enterprise reporting and decision-making at scale.
