AECOM is seeking an Assistant Cost Manager or Cost Manager to join our team delivering vital flood alleviation and water infrastructure projects. You will provide client-side cost and commercial management support through the entire project lifecycle, from inception and design to procurement and on-site delivery, helping to deliver a better world.
What You'll Do
- Work as part of a team to successfully manage and deliver capital investment projects for flood alleviation schemes.
- Provide client-side cost/commercial management support during all stages, from option studies and development through to NEC contract administration and site delivery.
- Participate in project meetings, contribute to the Project Execution Plan (PEP), prepare cost reports, and assist with procurement strategies and tender documentation.
- Proactively engage with the client, contractor, and other stakeholders to deliver within agreed parameters and help prevent disputes.
- Support contract management services on NEC4 contracts, administering through a contract management system.
- Advise the client on procurement strategies and review tender documentation.
- Develop strong relationships with clients and members of cross-functional teams.
- Support business development opportunities with existing and new clients.
What We're Looking For
- A minimum of 3 years of infrastructure cost/commercial management experience in a consulting or contractor environment.
- A relevant degree in quantity surveying or a related subject, or substantial relevant industry experience.
- Good knowledge and understanding of the NEC suite of contracts, particularly the Professional Services Contract (PSC) and Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC).
- Experience working as part of integrated, multi-organisation, collaborative teams.
- Excellent numeracy, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong relationship-building skills with clients, teams, and stakeholders.
- Ability to work under own initiative and closely with Senior Project Managers and Associates.
- A team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude, who is outgoing, diplomatic, personable, and flexible.
- Excellent IT skills and the ability to utilize current digital tools.
Nice to Have
- Direct water industry experience.
- Working towards membership of a related professional body such as RICS or equivalent.
