About the Role

International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. is hiring an Advanced Practitioner (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) for a locum position. You will provide on-site medical support and healthcare services to the client and customer workforce at a military base in Balad, Iraq.

What You'll Do

  • Provide medical evaluation and triage of patients.
  • Examine and diagnose patients for illness and injury.
  • Treat emergent, acute, and chronic conditions, evaluate symptoms, and offer preventative care.
  • Prescribe and administer medication, treatment, and therapies.
  • Order, perform, and interpret test results and analyze records and reports.
  • Formulate treatment plans and provide follow-up care as needed.
  • Collect, record, and maintain accurate patient health information and histories.
  • Liaise with other medical staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Ensure all medical records are meticulously and accurately maintained.
  • Provide medical evaluations, including annual employee physicals, medical testing, and required immunizations.
  • Ensure contractor workforce compliance with applicable US and host national laws for medical clearances.
  • Stabilize and manage medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) services for patients requiring higher-level care.
  • Provide liaison with external agencies to promote chain of care continuity and professional referral.
  • Support clinical mentoring for staff development.
  • Ensure best practice in line with clinical guidelines and SOPs.
  • Actively participate in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
  • Complete required organizational and client-specified compliance education.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in family practice, emergency medicine, urgent care, or primary care as a PA or NP.
  • Current experience in direct patient care and must have worked a minimum of 6-months of the last 12-months in career field.
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Fluency in both oral and written English.
  • Physician Assistant: Graduated from a PA training program recognized by the American Medical Association’s Accreditation Review Commission.
  • Physician Assistant: Hold the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification(s).
  • Nurse Practitioner: Completed an accredited Family NP Program and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
  • Nurse Practitioner: Hold a National Certification as a Family NP.
  • Nurse Practitioner: Licensed to practice full NP prescriptive authority.
  • Proficient IT skills, including use of electronic medical records systems.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain a calm, confident demeanor in stressful situations.
  • Results oriented with ability to meet project deliverables.
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Effective oral, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical requirements: Sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending/stooping, kneeling, twisting. Visual acuity. Minimal hearing loss. Push/pull/carry minimum 50 lbs.
  • Ability to obtain medical clearance and maintain current immunizations.
  • A valid passport is required and must be in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay in Balad.

Nice to Have

  • Experience on a military/government site, working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor.
