About the Role

Allegheny Health Network is hiring an Advanced Practice Provider Specialty, Hematology/Oncology. In this integral role, you will provide specialty healthcare services for acute and chronic conditions within Hematology/Oncology, working within the care delivery system to support a healing environment that places customers first. The role may involve 24/7 coverage, advanced procedures, and on-call duties.

What You'll Do

  • Perform complete, detailed, and accurate histories, review patient records, and conduct physical examinations.
  • Order and interpret laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic studies appropriate for the patient.
  • Make medical diagnoses and institute appropriate therapy within applicable scope and standards of practice.
  • Provide instructions and guidance regarding medical care matters to patients and/or family.
  • Record and report pertinent information in the EMR and to the attending physician.
  • Perform hospital rounds, document progress notes, and transcribe/execute orders at the direction of the attending physician.
  • Institute emergency measures and treatment in acute patient situations such as cardiac arrest, hemorrhage, or shock.
  • Identify and inform the attending physician of significant changes to the patient’s condition in a timely manner.
  • Maintain mandatory professional continuing education.
  • Actively participate in medical education for student learners and professional staff.
  • Actively participate in patient safety, quality improvement processes, and patient engagement and satisfaction.
  • Maintain compliance with the medical staff office.
  • Maintain professional practice consistent with organizational and advanced practice mission statements.
  • Perform specialty-specific procedures as stated with privileging and job agreement.

What We're Looking For

  • Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited program and certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants OR Graduate from a PA State Board of Nursing Approved Master’s or Post Master’s program.
  • Current Pennsylvania Physician Assistant License OR Current Pennsylvania CRNP license and current Pennsylvania RN license.
  • For CRNPs: Pennsylvania Prescriptive Authority license within 60 days of hire.
  • For CRNPs: National Board Certification for Nurse Practitioners through the AANP or ANCC.
  • CPR – American Heart Association certification.
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.

Nice to Have

  • 1-3 years of specialty practice experience.
  • 1-3 years of clinical experience.
  • ACLS certification.
  • Specialty certification as available by national agencies.
  • DEA license.
