This role provides essential human resources support within the Monmouth Vicinage of the state court system. The specialist delivers clear interpretation of HR policies, regulations, and employment laws to managers, supervisors, and staff, ensuring consistent application across departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer guidance on HR procedures and regulatory requirements
- Draft routine communications and formal documentation
- Prepare reports, proposals, and data summaries
- Verify accuracy of entered information by cross-referencing source materials
- Maintain and review confidential personnel records
- Support employee and labor relations initiatives
- Manage recruitment and selection processes for professional, paraprofessional, and clerical roles
- Oversee onboarding documentation and probationary period tracking
- Calculate salary information and verify classifications
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including state agencies
- Contribute to process improvements and administrative best practices
- Participate in committees, task forces, and team meetings
- Support training unit operations with administrative assistance
- Represent the division at job fairs and community outreach events
- Travel occasionally within New Jersey as needed
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. A valid New Jersey driver’s license is necessary only if driving is essential to job duties. All new hires must complete a background check, including fingerprinting, and establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of hire. Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a recognized credential service.
Preferred Skills
Experience in payroll, benefits, salary administration, employee relations, recruitment, training, or EEO/Affirmative Action is beneficial. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is expected.
Work Environment
This hybrid position allows up to two days of remote work per week, provided high-speed internet and multifactor authentication on a mobile device are available. The role operates under the supervision of senior HR leadership and contributes to initiatives that strengthen public trust in the judiciary.
