About the Role

Cancer Institute NSW is looking for an Administration Officer to join the team at Blue Mountains Hospital. This permanent part-time role is essential to providing frontline reception service for outpatient clinics. Your work will ensure efficient clinic operations through administrative support, direct patient interaction, and system management.

What You'll Do

  • Provide a frontline reception service for outpatient clinics.
  • Attend to telephone and counter enquiries promptly and in a friendly manner.
  • Make appointments and maintain clinic diaries in iPM.
  • Complete new patient registrations and electronic record updates using iPM.
  • Cancel and reschedule appointments as required.
  • Book interpreters for patients requiring this service.
  • Prepare and resubmit electronic medicare billing.
  • Enter patient referrals on electronic patient systems and ensure referrals are valid.
  • Request and prepare patients' Medical record files as required.
  • File, photocopy, and fax documents.
  • Ensure appropriate movement of internal and external mail, including printing and mailing letters from the EMDAT system.
  • Liaise closely with outpatient clinic medical officers, associated staff, and GPs.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Perform duties with a commitment to customer service and problem solving.

What We're Looking For

  • Extensive administrative knowledge and experience, including reception duties.
  • Effective customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise, co-ordinate and time manage daily tasks.
  • Understanding of Activity Based Funding (ABF) and outpatient billing.

Team & Environment

You will work closely with Medical Officers conducting outpatient clinics and within a multidisciplinary team.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary: $71,072.43 - $73,287.41 pro-rata for part-time hours.

This is an onsite role located at Blue Mountains Hospital.
