Liberty University is hiring an Online Adjunct Professor to serve as a PhD Dissertation Director and Reader for its History programs. In this role, your primary function will be to direct and read dissertations for the PhD in History and theses for the MA in History, while supporting students through their academic journey.
What You'll Do
- Direct and read dissertations in the PhD in History program and theses in the MA in History program.
- Teach material from the approved curriculum in accordance with an assigned schedule to ensure student satisfaction.
- Assist students in achieving completion of objectives and learning outcomes.
- Provide regular and timely feedback to students.
- Participate in school retention initiatives by maintaining productive contact with students and offering assistance to absent students.
- Advise students in matters related to academics, attendance, and behaviors.
- Motivate students to participate actively in all aspects of the educational process.
- Maintain and report student grades and attendance in accordance with university policies.
- Maintain university standards regarding course activity, emails, grading, and communication with Instructional Mentor and students.
What We're Looking For
- PhD in History or related field with a record of scholarship.
- All degrees must be from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Demonstrate a personal faith commitment to the university’s evangelical Christian purpose.
- Full adherence to the evangelical mission and doctrine of Liberty University.
- Proven organizational skills and ability to complete assignments timely and accurately with minimal supervision.
- Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students with a wide range of skills.
- Possess excellent interpersonal, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well with students, faculty, and staff.
- Demonstrated strength or potential in teaching at the college level.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with and use of collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction.
