About the Role

AccountingDepartment.com is looking for a Senior Accountant ready to take the next step in their career. This role handles complex, accrual-based accounting for multiple clients, requiring strong analytical skills and excellent technical knowledge to deliver accurate results in a fast-paced, virtual setting with minimal direction from Controllers.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain books for multiple clients on an accrual basis, often with the help of an Assistant or Accountant.
  • Complete timely and accurate monthly close process and financial reporting, including class reporting, job-costing, analysis of account categories, and defining trends.
  • Manage all aspects of the accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
  • Prepare cash management flash reports and properly track inventory.
  • Manage fixed and intangible assets, including depreciation/amortization schedules.
  • Process payroll using Intuit or other third-party applications and review quarterly/annual reports.
  • Support management with documentation for budgets, forecasts, and annual audits.
  • Record and maintain financing transactions and evaluate lease contracts.
  • Calculate and prepare various tax forms and payments.
  • Assist with review and preparation of 1099s and year-end payroll inclusions.
  • Update and maintain data for established KPIs, dashboards, reports, and budgets in Jirav.
  • Take full ownership of writing and updating the Client Procedure Manual.
  • Use critical thinking to research issues and provide meaningful solutions.
  • Independently interpret, research, and resolve technical accounting issues.
  • Embrace technologies to make process improvement recommendations and act as a proactive change-agent.
  • Lead client meetings, provide high-level customer service, and partner with client third-party advisors.
  • Track time on client engagements and manage work to meet deadlines.
  • Assist on special projects and pursue opportunities for continuous learning.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years performing full charge bookkeeping.
  • 2+ years using NetSuite Software for daily transaction processing, monthly close, and financial reporting.
  • Advanced knowledge of fundamental bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • A very high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Self-directed, highly motivated, proactive, organized, and process-driven.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills with proven experience meeting deadlines.
  • Comfortable delegating tasks and providing feedback.
  • Friendly, outgoing personality with strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Comfortable interacting with clients via phone and webcam.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment as an innovative thinker who embraces change.
  • Able to work independently and as a team player.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Proficient with accounting software, including QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, and Sage Intacct.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with third-party applications such as Bill.com, Tallie, Jirav, and TeamWork.
  • Ongoing desire to expand knowledge of new technology and applications.
  • AIPB certification, a 2-year associate’s degree in an accounting-related field, or a Minor in Accounting.
