LyondellBasell (LYB) is looking for an Accounting Supervisor to join our team in Malaysia. In this role, you will provide Controlling governance for financial reporting and internal controls across our manufacturing sites in Senai and Batu Pahat, and a trading company in Kuala Lumpur. You will be a key partner in ensuring financial integrity and supporting our mission to address global challenges in sustainability and society.
What You'll Do
- Ensure financial accounting is in accordance with Corporate Accounting Policies (US GAAP and IFRS), and local GAAP.
- Review postings and adjustments for accurate financial statements, including GL/TB reviews, manual journal entries, revenue/cost analysis, and inventory valuation.
- Prepare and/or review local GAAP postings and adjustments for statutory financial statements.
- Prepare statutory financial statements in accordance with local GAAP and coordinate the annual audit.
- Perform legal entities’ Balance Sheet review and Flux analysis.
- Facilitate and support other functional departments to fulfill government and local financial reporting obligations, including tax compliance (VAT/GST, SST, WHT, CIT).
- Advise, monitor and coordinate dividend distributions.
- Ensure adequate preventative and detective internal controls exist and operate effectively.
- Partner with other accounting transactional teams to ensure accounting records are accurate and complete.
- Liaise with external auditors and provide support for new business/JV projects.
- Act as a business partner for Regional Manufacturing Director(s), site managers, and other functional managers.
- Perform manufacturing fixed and variable cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and support site appraisals and internal controls.
- Support compliance with Direct and Indirect Taxes for Malaysian APS manufacturing organizations, including preparation and submission of tax filings and payments.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in a supervisory accounting role with responsibility for financial reporting and controls.
- Expert knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and local GAAP financial reporting standards.
- Significant experience preparing statutory financial statements and managing external audits.
- Strong understanding of tax compliance requirements (VAT/GST, SST, WHT, CIT) in Malaysia.
- Demonstrated ability in balance sheet review, flux analysis, and manufacturing cost analysis.
- Experience implementing and monitoring effective internal controls.
- Excellent collaboration skills to partner with site managers, functional teams, and external auditors.
