Babbel is looking for an Accounting Principal (all genders) to serve as our senior-level technical accounting expert. You will join the Finance team, assessing complex IFRS topics, ensuring the accuracy of our consolidated financials, and leading key projects that shape our financial processes.
What You'll Do
- Assess and interpret complex accounting issues and new IFRS standards, providing clear guidance to management.
- Draft comprehensive technical accounting memos to document positions on IFRS topics and significant transactions.
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of consolidated financial statements for month-end and year-end closes.
- Take responsibility for the preparation and quality of year-end notes disclosures in accordance with IFRS.
- Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, coordinating audit requests and resolving issues.
- Lead diverse accounting projects, including the design and enhancement of internal controls and process improvements.
- Support the implementation of new accounting policies, procedures, and systems.
- Provide technical accounting support and training to finance and accounting staff.
- Stay current on IFRS developments and emerging accounting issues relevant to Babbel.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong background in IFRS and technical accounting research.
- Proven experience preparing consolidated financial statements and managing month-end/year-end close processes.
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise technical accounting memos and documentation.
- Hands-on experience preparing year-end notes disclosures under IFRS.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience working directly with external auditors.
- Proven experience leading or participating in internal controls and process improvement projects.
- Proficiency in accounting software.
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree or CPA/CA/ACCA qualification.
- Experience with Workday.
