Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead core accounting functions, mentor a high-performing team, and ensure compliance with government grant reporting for our mission-driven organization. In this role, you will work closely with senior leadership to streamline operations, enhance internal controls, and contribute to strategic financial planning.
What You'll Do
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team handling Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and cash management.
- Oversee timely and accurate preparation of government grant reports and ensure compliance with applicable terms and regulations.
- Collaborate with the Controller and finance leadership to improve month-end close processes and reporting accuracy.
- Identify and implement improvements to financial systems, processes, and internal controls.
- Support financial operations by preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations, and generating insightful financial reports.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial guidance that informs decision-making.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and professional growth within the finance team.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Experience with financial systems and general accounting processes.
- Familiarity with government grant reporting and related compliance requirements.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, and data modeling).
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail, critical thinking, and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
- Must be able to pass a criminal history check (including sex offender registry, State Police, and FBI screenings).

- CPA or CPA-eligible.
