Role Overview
This position leads financial accounting activities for regulated entities in West African markets, serving as the primary finance liaison for local regulatory bodies, including Central Banks. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, you will ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and licensing requirements in a rapidly evolving fintech environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Gain in-depth understanding of the company’s revenue streams, cost structure, and operational model in the region
- Act as the official finance representative for Central Banks and other regulatory agencies in designated countries
- Support the preparation and submission of regulatory returns under payment service provider licensing frameworks
- Lead month-end close activities, including compiling schedules and supporting documentation
- Prepare local statutory financial statements and ensure they are audit-ready
- Perform timely reconciliations of bank and mobile money accounts, resolving discrepancies promptly
- Collaborate with external tax and accounting advisors to meet local compliance deadlines and requirements
- Maintain comprehensive records to support filings across jurisdictions
- Monitor internal financial controls and recommend improvements where needed
- Support payroll processing, including reconciliation and compliance with statutory deductions
- Assist in year-end reporting and provide audit support with detailed schedules
- Manage daily bookkeeping to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field and be fully qualified with a recognized professional accounting credential such as CPA. Required experience includes month-end closing, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting. You should be comfortable working independently as the lead finance contact in-country.
Proficiency with Google Sheets is essential. Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills are required, along with the ability to make sound decisions and solve problems efficiently. Fluency in both English and French (spoken and written) is mandatory.

- Experience preparing statutory reports across multiple African jurisdictions
- Background in fintech or payments regulation in Africa

This is a fully remote role based in one of the following countries: Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, or Burkina Faso.
