Ensemble Performing Arts, a high-growth consolidator of performing arts businesses, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Associate. This is a remote, full-time role (40 hours per week) supporting the daily operations of the accounting department, monthly closing process, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions.
What You'll Do
- Manage and monitor all incoming payments, ensuring timely and accurate posting for accounts receivable.
- Prepare and record daily deposits into the appropriate accounts.
- Review, process, and prepare accounts payable for payment.
- Prepare and issue award checks and rebate checks according to company policy.
- Utilize Square platform for transaction reporting, reconciliation, and general ledger entries.
- Oversee the management and tracking of inventory.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, deferred revenue, fixed assets, sales tax payable, and goodwill.
- Review and post American Express and other credit card transactions.
- Process and approve weekly payroll and post the payroll file to the general ledger.
- Assist in preparing financial statements and reports.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all accounting transactions.
- Work closely with other departments, such as Operations and Sales.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a staff accountant role.
- Proficiency with accounting software (NetSuite preferable) and payroll processing system (Paylocity).
- Advanced Excel skills (at minimum a thorough understanding of pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Payroll processing (Paylocity).
- Experience posting and reconciling transactions for credit card accounts (American Express and others).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and financial issues.
Nice to Have
- CPA or working toward certification is a plus.
- Experience with Square and inventory management is preferred.
