Washington University in St. Louis is seeking an Accountant I to join the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and the Division of Comparative Medicine. This remote position is responsible for the timely processing of Workday documents and for supporting monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial closing processes.
What You'll Do
- Create, ensure data integrity for, and approve various online documents including requisitions, purchase orders, travel documents, change orders, and invoices.
- Process all Workday documents according to established closing schedules.
- Respond to inquiries from departmental stakeholders, suppliers, and central processing areas, resolving issues as they arise.
- Assist with administrative general accounting and system-related projects, such as organizing departmental contracts.
- Prepare various general ledger entries to facilitate monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing and reconcile, report on, and analyze general ledger accounts.
- Assist with special projects, including the annual financial budgets.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1 year of relevant experience.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business.
- Skills in analytical thinking, communication, critical thinking, customer service, deadline management, exercising judgment, and problem-solving.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability in organizational tasks, prioritization, professional collaboration, sound judgment, tact, teamwork, and working independently.

- Compensation: $23.37 - $36.19 per hour.
