The University of Texas at Austin is looking for three Accountant I professionals to join the Office of Accounting. This fully remote role will support financial integrity and reporting within one of three sections: Financial Accounting and Reporting, Federal Costing/Service Centers, or Plant Accounting, following a training period.
What You'll Do
- Manage account creation and control.
- Prepare and process journal entries, reviewing propriety and classification to ensure financial integrity.
- Monitor accounts, transactions, and processes to ensure reliability and collaborate with departments to resolve issues.
- Provide accounting support and data integrity reviews for campus departments, oversight agencies, and university management.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Experience in financial reporting, analysis, and report writing.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated flexibility, professional demeanor, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with MS Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Nice to Have
- Demonstrated ability to perform multiple duties and meet deadlines.
- Experience working in a university environment and with internal and external customers.
- Experience working with databases.
- Knowledge of academic operations.
- Working knowledge of UT's policies, procedures, and systems, including DEFINE.
- One to three years of experience in governmental accounting.
