About the Role

SEPTA is looking for an Accountant to join our team, specializing in Accounts Receivable. In this role, you’ll handle billing and general accounting duties, including financial report analysis, record maintenance, and journal preparation for a leading transit authority recognized as a Forbes Best in State Employer.

What You'll Do

  • Perform financial report analysis and updates as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate records and other source data to facilitate monthly and quarterly analysis.
  • Prepare various financial journals during the monthly close.
  • Prepare third-party billings to government agencies, private companies, and public agencies.
  • Review and reconcile weekly invoices and cash applications.
  • Assist with daily cash preparations as needed.
  • Provide support to others within the department.
  • Comply with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures, reporting any safety concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in an accounting environment.
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Word software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical ability.
  • A strong work ethic and commitment to accomplishing duties and goals.
