About the Role

Role OverviewAs an Account Manager IV, you will oversee critical labor union health and welfare fund relationships, driving retention and expansion within the Labor market segment. You serve as the primary point of contact, guiding clients through contract cycles, product adoption, and regulatory changes while ensuring alignment with operational and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead contract renewal processes, including negotiation and approval of non-standard modifications to support account stability and growth.
  • Evaluate client needs and recommend tailored product offerings, identifying opportunities to expand business lines.
  • Act as the primary liaison for trustees, administrators, third-party administrators (TPAs), brokers, and consultants, maintaining consultative, long-term relationships.
  • Monitor service delivery, contractual commitments, and performance benchmarks where applicable.
  • Collaborate with Sales on pricing strategy and plan design adjustments during renewal cycles.
  • Represent the organization at trustee forums, board sessions, and client-requested meetings.
  • Manage client expectations proactively and escalate complex issues for timely resolution.
  • Work with Data & Reporting teams to produce customized performance insights and reporting.
  • Coordinate across internal departments—including Service, Claims, Network, IT, and Compliance—to resolve multifaceted client challenges.
  • Design and lead educational workshops on enrollment, claims processes, and regulatory updates.
  • Make authoritative decisions on financial, service, and operational matters impacting accounts.
  • Communicate legislative and regulatory changes to clients and broker partners, explaining implications clearly.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least 10 years of progressive account management experience, with a focus on strategic client relationships, contract negotiation, and renewal optimization—ideally in health insurance.
  • Holding a New Jersey Health/Life insurance license is mandatory.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based applications.
  • Familiarity with union governance, TPA models, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Solid understanding of group health products, including Managed Care structures.
  • Knowledge of rating methodologies and policy renewal procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Direct experience in Labor or Public Sector markets strongly desired.
  • Familiarity with underwriting policies, enrollment, billing, and claims operations is advantageous.
  • Prior service as an NLO Board Member or AC Chamber Chair is a plus.

Technical Environment

Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), intranet systems, and internet-based platforms.

Work Environment

This role is based in New Jersey with regular in-state travel required. Occasional travel across the United States may be necessary.
