About the Role

Harriscomputer is hiring an Account Follow-Up Representative I to ensure the timely resolution of unpaid hospital insurance claims. In this role, you will learn various hospital systems to research claims, follow up with insurance providers, and guide accounts to settlement.

What You'll Do

  • Follow up on unpaid hospital patient accounts with insurance companies, including checking payment status, rebilling, adjusting financial classes, and documenting all steps.
  • Manage 30-40 patient accounts daily for your assigned insurance providers.
  • Address denied claims and zero-payment reports within 48 hours.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to secure payment for outstanding balances.
  • Research unpaid accounts and guide them through the correct resolution process.
  • Document findings and next steps clearly in the system.
  • Suggest account adjustments based on established guidelines.
  • Assist with team projects to meet client service agreements.
  • Collaborate with other teams to solve project-related issues.
  • Manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks.
  • Complete all required training on schedule.
  • Adhere to quality assurance and regulatory standards.
  • Submit work hours accurately and punctually.
  • Stay current on insurance rules and collection laws.
  • Learn about the industry through formal training and self-study.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings.
  • Respond promptly to messages from patients, agencies, and facilities.
  • Follow all HIPAA privacy and security rules diligently.
  • Uphold all company policies and procedures.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of related experience, or a recent graduate of a Medical Billing and Coding program.
  • Able to follow directions and work independently.
  • Handles pressure well and maintains a customer-focused approach.
  • Comfortable using computers, including Excel, Word, email, and databases.
  • Proficient with inbound and outbound phone calls.
  • Able to handle patient health information (PHI) confidentially.
  • Good math skills.
  • Excellent communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Can focus on detailed work for long periods.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team.
  • Builds positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Flexible, positive, and professional, even under pressure.
  • Learns new software and systems quickly.
  • Understands and carries out instructions well.
  • Reliable high-speed internet with at least 300 Mbps download speed and unlimited data.
  • A smartphone for security purposes (Multi-Factor Authentication).
