Sumitomo Electric Carbide, Inc. is hiring a 2nd Shift Supervisor - Manufacturing

Sumitomo is looking for an experienced, 2nd Shift Supervisor to join our New Berlin, WI team! We are looking for a leader who can roll up their sleeves, inspire their teams, and drive accountability and collaboration. Responsible for effectively supervising, coaching, and developing through proactive planning, practical implementation, addressing problems/concerns, and continuous improvement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Supervise and coordinate manufacturing activities during the 2nd shift, ensuring production goals are met efficiently and safely. - Train, cross-train, coach and develop the team to equip them with the necessary tools to succeed. - Support continuous improvement efforts through lean manufacturing and 5S principles. - Serve as backup for the the team leads. - Understand and communicates department goals and objectives to all team members. - Resolve employee issues through problem and conflict resolution. Communicates issues with managers. - Tackle real-time challenges as they occur. - Engage in continuous improvement. - Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and engineering specifications to determine production processes and tolerance limits. - Completes performance reviews on 2nd shift production team. Minimum Education and Qualifications: - Proven ability to lead a production team. - Hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced, evolving settings. - Strong background in continuous improvement, and ability to apply concepts. - Able to navigate personalities, drive accountability, and promote open communication. - Supervisory experience, including coaching, directing and motivating a diverse group of employees. - May require in-depth ability to read, interpret, and explain blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and specifications. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Advanced ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of personnel and production challenges. - Requires 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
