Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and preparing daily meals for staff
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen areas
- Follow safe food handling and storage procedures
- Monitor inventory levels and report supply needs
- Support compliance with health and safety standards
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Participate in receiving and inspecting food deliveries
- Help train kitchen assistants and junior staff
- Adapt recipes for large-scale production
- Ensure consistent portion control and presentation
- Dispose of waste in accordance with environmental guidelines
- Respond to dietary requests and restrictions
- Work in extreme weather conditions
- Follow emergency response protocols
- Contribute to a respectful and inclusive team culture
Nice to Have
- Red Seal certification or equivalent
- Experience working in northern or Indigenous communities
