Human Intelligence is seeking a seasoned Fractional CTO / AI Strategy contractor to provide senior technical executive leadership. In this role, you will guide critical AI product direction and high-stakes architectural decisions, producing key artifacts to help leaders move quickly and safely.
What You'll Do
- Provide clear advice-to-decision paths for new and extending technical projects.
- Propose or review comprehensive AI strategy and implementation pathways.
- Create reference architectures, playbooks, and guardrail policies.
- Develop risk registers, buy/build/partner matrices, and vendor RFPs.
- Conduct architectural and implementation quality checks.
What We're Looking For
- Senior technical executive experience as a CTO, Head of AI, or Principal/Distinguished Engineer.
- Depth in AI deployment at scale, with a track record of providing crisp, actionable guidance.
- Hands-on experience with LLM & Multi-Agent Systems, including safety, evaluations, retrieval, tool-use, orchestration, and cost/latency engineering.
- Experience designing and operating MLOps & Data Platforms, covering feature stores, pipelines, governance, and labeling/feedback loops.
- Experience implementing AI in Regulated Health contexts, with knowledge of privacy, DPIA/TRA, clinical safety, and audit trails.
- Experience with SRE/Cloud Economics principles, including SLOs, incident management, and cost/performance tradeoffs.
- Experience with Security & Privacy for AI systems, including threat modeling, secrets management, and data minimization.
- Experience with Product & Growth aspects of AI, such as monetization, pricing, usage metering, and partner integrations.
Work Mode
This is a remote, contractor position open to candidates in Western Europe, the U.S., Canada, Australia, Latin America, Israel, Singapore, Malaysia, and Southeast Asia.
