University of British Columbia (UBC) is seeking a Video Editor & Content Producer to create and shape short-form, social-first video content and recurring content series that bring our brand to life. This role blends production and post-production—you’ll jump behind the camera, capture engaging footage, and craft it into polished, platform-optimized stories.

What You'll Do

Lead editing and post-production for short-form, social-first video content and recurring series—delivering work that’s platform-optimized and visually compelling
Operate camera equipment for both in-studio and on-location shoots, capturing high-quality footage for branded content and organic social campaigns
Collaborate with creative teams to develop concepts, storyboards, and episode outlines for ongoing social series
Edit footage, add music, dialogue, graphics, and effects to create engaging, trend-aware videos
Review scripts and raw material to create shot lists and ensure logical sequencing, pacing, and storytelling flow
Contribute to on-set production needs, including lighting, sound, and direction when needed
Stay on top of social platform trends, emerging video formats, and editing techniques to keep content fresh and engaging
Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure creative alignment and consistent brand voice across all video content

What We're Looking For

3–5 years of proven experience in video editing, with a portfolio of short-form, social-first content and series
At least 1–2 years of hands-on production and camera operation experience
A strong understanding of camera operation, composition, lighting techniques, and framing is essential
Ability to operate and carry camera equipment (up to 25 lbs)
Experience with Blackmagic and Nikon cameras, as well as standard audio recording technology like Zoom recorders and RODE mics
Experience managing freelance video production support, as needed
Knowledge of shooting and editing videos
Demonstrated skill with video editing software platforms, specifically proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, or similar)
Strong understanding of how to tailor content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other social platforms
Knowledge of production fundamentals, including lighting, sound, and framing for social-first video
Strong storytelling instincts with a sharp sense of pacing, timing, and visual continuity
Ability to manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment
Creative problem-solver with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset

Nice to Have

Bonus: experience producing for CPG, QSR, or lifestyle brands
