Benzinga is looking for a Weekend Writer to create content that shapes market narratives and influences investor decisions during the weekend cycle. You will identify developing stories, produce compelling articles, and drive traffic to Benzinga.com.
What You'll Do
- Identify themes and trends in the business and finance world to find topics that matter most to readers.
- Monitor business and economic developments in real time to produce accurate and engaging breaking news coverage.
- Write high-quality articles following Associated Press (AP) and Benzinga style guidelines.
- Fact-check content to ensure it is accurate, credible, and legally sound.
- Craft compelling, search-optimized headlines and structure content for maximum discoverability and reader engagement.
- Apply a strong understanding of financial markets, equities, and macro trends to contextualize news for investors.
- Collaborate with the team to brainstorm fresh, creative content ideas, exclusives, and interviews.
- Use data and analytics to understand what resonates with readers and help increase retention.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of documented news reporting or writing experience.
- Strong working knowledge of AP style and the principles of media law.
- A genuine interest in trading stocks and financial markets.
Nice to Have
- A background in business news.
