Cambia Health Solutions is hiring a VP of Stop-Loss Underwriting

As the leader of stop-loss underwriting, you will guide risk assessment and classification strategies to balance profitability with market competitiveness. You will set underwriting standards, approve high-value cases, and define quote authority across the team, ensuring alignment with corporate financial and compliance goals.

Leadership & Strategy

You will direct the underwriting department’s operations, shaping policies that prevent adverse selection while expanding access for targeted employer groups. This includes developing equitable rating structures, overseeing contract management, and conducting annual audits of underwriting performance. You’ll also lead AI integration to enhance efficiency and decision-making across risk evaluation processes.

Collaboration & Compliance

You will serve as the final internal authority on rate concessions before external escalation, working closely with actuarial leadership and state regulators on filings and compliance matters. Your role includes approving third-party administrators and representing the organization in external reviews, including AM Best evaluations.

Team Development

You will manage a multidisciplinary team of underwriters, claims analysts, medical consultants, and nursing staff, setting departmental objectives, mentoring managers, and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability. Success requires strong analytical judgment, fluency in healthcare risk dynamics, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.
