Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank is hiring a VP Commercial Loan Officer to attract, develop, and maintain commercial banking relationships with individuals, non-profits, and businesses in our market area. You will be responsible for generating new commercial loans and deposits while cross-selling other bank products and representing the Bank positively in the community.
What You'll Do
- Seek out new business opportunities within the bank's defined market areas and participate in business development efforts to attract and retain quality clients.
- Develop and maintain a network of professional relationships and referral sources, including business brokers, accountants, attorneys, and other centers of influence.
- Screen and interview new loan applicants, collect and analyze financial data to establish creditworthiness, and negotiate credit terms while monitoring loan repayment.
- Promote and sell related bank financial products and work with business partners to expand existing client relationships and acquire new ones.
- Work closely with a portfolio manager to manage all aspects of the loan relationship, including credit analysis, approvals, closing, and proactive risk mitigation.
- Verify transactions and account balances, ensuring compliance with bank policies and state and federal regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
- Participate in civic, social, and community relations activities to promote and strengthen the Bank's image.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in commercial lending and commercial banking.
- Strong working knowledge of appropriate credit structure and key factors of bank policy guidelines for assessing credit quality.
- Demonstrated ability to assess a loan applicant's risk profile and manage credit structure and inherent lending risks.
- Strong working knowledge of commercial loan and deposit/Treasury products.
- Proficient with office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Highly organized and proactive planner with strong time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
