VON Canada is hiring a Fund Development Officer to join our team in Ontario. In this full-time, onsite role, you will be responsible for soliciting mid-level donations and sponsorships from individuals, corporations, and foundations to support VON’s strategic priorities and community care services.
What You'll Do
- Manage and foster relationships with all levels of donors to increase annually fundraised revenues, with a focus on mid-level donors.
- Solicit sponsorships and conduct corporate outreach, ensuring donor stewardship and recognition commitments are fulfilled.
- Research and develop a pipeline of mid-level prospects and sponsorship donors.
- Prepare and research comprehensive grant and foundation applications, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
- Lead fundraising event volunteer committees and contribute to the development and maintenance of event budgets.
- Collaborate with the communications team to develop donor-focused content and marketing plans for events.
- Lead the creation and management of strategic content across social media platforms for fundraising and event promotion.
- Represent the organization at community events, donor meetings, and public speaking engagements.
- Provide leadership with reports on statistical analyses of fund development activities, including donor retention and event ROI.
- Prepare data queries and produce reports from Raiser’s Edge.
- Research and develop corporate and community partnerships in coordination with the Manager.
- Maintain accurate records of donor interactions, gifts, and stewardship activities in Raiser’s Edge.
- Manage bank deposits and code donations at the site level.
- Promote the goals and values of VON as an integrated community care provider.
- Promote a safe and healthy workplace, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Abide by all VON policies, confidentiality practices, and work collaboratively in a team approach.
What We're Looking For
- Post-secondary education in fundraising, communications, public relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in fundraising or event planning.
- Superior presentation and public speaking skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective business correspondence.
- Project management, strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Acute attention to detail and proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, dealing effectively with individuals at all levels.
- Access to a personal vehicle for work, a current driver’s license, and proof of vehicle insurance.
- A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check.
- Knowledge and experience of the charitable and not-for-profit sector.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Adobe, Canva, and Constant Contact.
- Ability to speak French is an asset in French designated areas.
- A Vulnerable Sector Search and/or Child Abuse Registry Check may be required.

Team & Environment
You will maintain regular contact with the local cross-functional team, the extended Fund Development team, and the national Marketing, Communications and Philanthropy team, coordinating with the Manager.
