United Way of Greater Los Angeles is hiring a Vice President, Development

About the Role

The individual in this role will lead the strategy and execution of a comprehensive development program, overseeing fundraising efforts, cultivating major donor relationships, and expanding revenue streams to advance mission-driven goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of annual and multi-year fundraising plans
  • Manage relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and foundation funders
  • Supervise a team responsible for gift processing, donor stewardship, and campaign execution
  • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities including grants and special events
  • Collaborate with leadership to align development goals with organizational priorities
  • Oversee donor cultivation events and recognition strategies
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership and board committees
  • Ensure compliance with gift acceptance policies and donor agreements
  • Monitor development metrics and adjust strategies based on performance data
  • Strengthen pipeline development through prospect research and outreach
  • Build partnerships across departments to support integrated fundraising campaigns
  • Represent the organization at external meetings and community forums
  • Maintain accurate records in donor database systems
  • Support capital campaigns and special initiatives as needed
  • Promote a culture of philanthropy across the organization

Compensation

Competitive salary commensurate with experience; comprehensive benefits package included

Work Arrangement

Hybrid work model with required presence in the Greater Los Angeles area

Reports to Chief Executive Officer; leads development department and collaborates with cross-functional teams
