MyFlorida’s Division of Telecommunications is hiring a Utility System/Engineering Specialist to oversee and support all communications technologies for the SUNCOM statewide backbone. This role is central to the design, management, and quality assurance of enterprise voice and data services for state government.
What You'll Do
- Define new products, gather market requirements, develop procurement specifications, lead procurement, and create operational documentation.
- Provide systems engineering analysis, management, and designs required for statewide communications systems.
- Analyze agency business requirements and develop policies, procedures, and methods for mission-critical applications.
- Manage the overall health of SUNCOM services, including product planning, marketing, engineering design, tracking P&L, and maximizing sales revenues.
- Provide technical guidance and support to state agencies and customers on communications engineering, Internet protocol, two-way radio, and problem resolution.
- Create, implement, and follow planned production processes for quality assurance.
- Perform surveys of existing systems, develop models, prepare equipment requirements, perform cost comparisons, and prepare budget evaluations.
- Conduct field tests on communications systems for verification of equipment or performance analysis.
- Provide support to the Emergency Operations Center during any declared disaster or emergency.
What We're Looking For
- A B.S. degree in Engineering, Management Information Systems (or a related field) or 5 years of equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in Telecommunications products and service management.
- Experience with Palo Alto, ASA Firewall, BGP, VRF and VRF Lite configuration.
- Experience with configuring Cisco IOS, IOS XE and IOS XR.
- Experience with IP address management and VLSM.
- Experience with SIEM tools.
- Adherence to safety awareness policies and procedures.
- Compliance with F.S. 215.422 regarding vendor invoice processing.

- Preferred VPN technology experience.
