WSB is seeking a Utility Locate Auditor to ensure safe and accurate utility operations by verifying compliance with quality and safety standards. You will travel between worksites across the Denver area in this remote field role, which requires use of a personal vehicle.
What You'll Do
- Select and apply appropriate locating and geophysical equipment, such as electromagnetic locators and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), to identify and map underground utilities.
- Visually confirm utility depths and alignments.
- Legibly and accurately complete field documentation, including sketches, utility logs, daily reports, and safety forms.
- Communicate effectively with the Project Manager, project team, and client field representatives.
- Coordinate with utility company representatives and other stakeholders to verify facility data and resolve field discrepancies.
- Inspect assigned tools and equipment prior to use and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Monitor worksite conditions and exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions are identified.
- Utilize company-issued technology, such as iPads or GPS units, for data collection, inspection documentation, and project tracking.
- Assist with construction inspection and distribution utility oversight activities, including verifying materials, as-built conditions, and adherence to design standards.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to travel regionally (50+ miles) as required.
- Ability to perform physical tasks commensurate with operating field and locating equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Basic computer and tablet skills with the ability to learn software for field data entry and reporting.
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to traverse uneven terrain and work outdoors year-round in variable weather conditions.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and quality standards.
Nice to Have
- 2+ years of experience locating underground utilities using traditional electromagnetic methods.
- Familiarity with underground utility installation, surveying, mapping, and as-built verification.
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and utility records.
- Working knowledge of 49 CFR 192/195 and field Operator Qualifications (OQs).
- Exposure to distribution utility inspection or related construction oversight roles.
- AWS CWI, CPWI+V, or API 1169 certifications, or willingness to obtain them.
- Experience with polyethylene joining methods and fusion inspection.
