The University of Vienna is looking for a University Assistant PraeDoc (doctoral candidate) to join the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry. In this role, you will conduct original research in bioinorganic chemistry and chemical biology while completing your doctoral thesis and participating in teaching activities.
What You'll Do
- Conduct original research projects focusing on the biological effects of novel tumor-inhibiting compounds and therapy resistance mechanisms in human cell models.
- Characterize bioactivities using cell and molecular biology-based methods, including flow cytometry, (confocal) microscopy, and immunofluorescence.
- Prepare internal reports, publications, academic articles, and present scientific results at (inter)national conferences.
- Sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months.
- Be actively involved in research, teaching, and administration.
- Teach courses independently to the extent specified in the collective agreement.
- Instruct bachelor and master students and carry out administrative tasks in teaching and/or research.
What We're Looking For
- A diploma or master's degree in molecular biology, biological chemistry, biochemistry, chemistry, or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience in mammalian cell culture techniques and characterization of compound bioactivity, ideally including flow cytometry and imaging-based methods.
- Basic experience in research methods and academic writing.
- Attention to detail and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Very good knowledge of English and basic knowledge of German.
