The University of Vienna’s Institute of Business Decisions and Analytics is hiring a University Assistant (postdoctoral). In this research and teaching role, you will build an independent research profile in railway optimization, focusing on vehicle and crew scheduling. You will contribute to an international academic team while preparing your habilitation.
What You'll Do
- Build up an independent research profile in the field of railway optimization.
- Participate in research projects and scientific studies in vehicle and crew scheduling.
- Publish internationally and give lectures.
- Apply for projects and raise third-party funds.
- Prepare and complete a publication-ready habilitation.
- Hold courses independently within the scope of the collective bargaining agreement.
- Supervise students in seminar and master's theses.
- Participate in evaluation measures and quality assurance.
- Take on administrative tasks in research, teaching, and administration.
What We're Looking For
- Completed doctoral/PhD studies in business administration or related topics (e.g., industrial engineering).
- An outstanding dissertation.
- Record of international publications.
- Experience in third-party projects, ideally in railway optimization.
- Didactic skills.
- IT knowledge (e.g., Word, Overleaf).
- Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Julia, Matlab, Gurobi, Java, Python).
- Excellent knowledge of English.
- Team player with high social and communication skills.

You will join the working group of Business Analytics at the Institute of Business Decisions and Analytics, working within an international academic team.
