The YMCA is seeking a Summer Camp Site Director to lead our camp operations in Clinton, NJ. This role is central to creating a safe, engaging, and positive experience for campers and staff, ensuring programs meet the needs of all ages, abilities, and skill levels.
What You'll Do
- Supervise, train, motivate, and evaluate camp staff.
- Manage and organize all camp field trips.
- Develop the daily schedule and verify that all aspects are followed appropriately, including electives, special programs, and daily events.
- Ensure programs are executed to maintain the safety and well-being of all staff and campers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with fellow directors, maintenance staff, tent and trailer staff, day camp staff, members, and parents.
- Resolve scheduling, programming, parental, and staffing problems as they arise.
What We're Looking For
- 21+ years of age.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 3+ years working with children.
- 2+ years experience working in a day camp setting.
- 1+ years in a supervisory setting.
- Proficiency in swimming with ability to obtain lifesaving certifications (CPR & First Aid).
Nice to Have
- Prior or current experience in education, athletic education, child psychology, sports management, or a related field.
- Enjoyment from working with children and keeping positive relationships with their parents in high energy sports environments.
