HUB International is hiring an Underwriting Manager to serve as first-level management for the Underwriting division. In this role, you’ll blend personnel leadership with technical underwriting to build a high-performing team and a profitable book of business.
What You'll Do
- Develop underwriting standards, methods, and processes aligned with industry best practices.
- Manage personnel training, development plans, and stretch assignments for your team.
- Provide system administration for issue resolution and problem-solving.
- Approve timecards, Paid Time Off, and other payroll functions as supervisor.
- Maintain team harmony and resolve employee grievances.
- Manage team performance using KPIs, monthly 1:1s, task reconciliations, reports, and audits.
- Build strong, positive agent relationships to drive new business growth and retention.
- Identify opportunities for underwriting improvement and recommend solutions.
- Underwrite and maintain a profitable book of business.
What We're Looking For
- 5-7 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience managing direct reports.
- Conflict resolution skills and a thorough understanding of company policy and procedures.
- Minimum 5 years of experience underwriting commercial property and casualty, including General Liability, Product Liability, and Property.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- A High School Diploma is required.
Nice to Have
- Cannabis underwriting experience is not required.
- An Associate’s degree or higher is preferred.
- Certified Underwriter designation or progressive training in insurance-specific disciplines.

- Compensation range: $90,000 to $125,000.
