This position plays a key role in supporting the execution and oversight of the underwriting audit function. Working closely with the Underwriting Audit Manager, the specialist helps implement the audit plan, track findings, and ensure effective underwriting controls are maintained across all business segments for both CNA and Hardy operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of the underwriting audit plan and assist in monitoring the resolution of audit findings
- Help maintain the underwriting governance framework, with focus on authority management, breach tracking, and exception reporting
- Collaborate with Business Unit Heads and senior underwriting teams to ensure timely follow-up on control issues
- Prepare and distribute regular reports on outstanding audit actions and their status
- Monitor underwriting policy watch lists and maintain the breach log to ensure accurate recordkeeping
- Support the design and distribution of pre-audit materials such as questionnaires and summary templates
- Assist in communicating audit outcomes to relevant stakeholders and management
- Identify recurring trends in audit findings and provide insights to improve controls
- Ensure annual reviews of underwriting authorities are completed and new staff are onboarded correctly
- Support system enhancements to enable efficient remote auditing practices
- Provide guidance to new employees on underwriting principles and governance expectations
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards across all audit-related activities
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in underwriting, compliance, or governance within a commercial insurance or syndicate environment
- Strong analytical abilities to assess risks, interpret data, and resolve control issues
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive discussions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other business software used for reporting and data analysis
- Experience drafting reports for management and cross-functional stakeholders
- Ability to coordinate with departments such as Underwriting, Legal, Risk, and Internal Audit
- Effective organisational skills to meet audit timelines and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Lloyd’s market practices and company insurance operations
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed
- Language proficiency in French, German, Italian, or Danish
