Great Eastern is hiring an Underwriter to take responsibility for the Underwriting function across all distribution channels. In this role, you will assist your immediate superior in implementing Operations strategy to support the company's goals.

What You'll Do

Perform prudent underwriting risk assessment on all distribution channels within stipulated turnaround times.
Approve cases within your authority limit, ensuring all decisions comply with regulatory requirements and company policies.
Collaborate with field force members and other functions to identify opportunities for improving process efficiency and the customer experience.
Achieve the operational and performance goals set for the section.
Perform quality checks on a monthly basis.
Assist and respond in a timely manner to inquiries from other departments, such as Agency Distribution and Customer Service.
Perform UAT and technical support to enable new product launches, underwriting rules enhancements, and ad-hoc projects, ensuring sign-off within agreed timelines.
Review and recommend enhancements to underwriting procedures and guidelines to maintain effectiveness and alignment with industry standards.
Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned by your supervisor to meet operational needs.
Consider business and regulatory compliance risks and take appropriate steps to mitigate them.
Maintain awareness of industry trends, emerging threats, and technologies to better safeguard the company.
Highlight potential concerns and proactively share best risk management practices.

What We're Looking For

A formal degree or higher education qualification.
A minimum of 2 years of working experience in Family Takaful or Life Underwriting.

Nice to Have

Other professional qualifications, such as FLMI, AMII Takaful Basic Examination, or Retakaful training.
Experience with both underwriting risk assessment and system processes.
Strong communication skills, relationship-building abilities, organizational capabilities, analytical thinking, and a commitment to collaboration.
The ability to effectively and independently manage your workload with good judgment.
A high level of integrity, accountability for your work, and a good attitude towards teamwork.
Initiative to improve current processes and adaptability to embrace new changes.
