Zurich Canada is looking for an Underwriter Quality Specialist to provide critical assurance that our underwriting business operates efficiently and effectively. You will facilitate technical reviews, governance, and quality control processes while playing a key role in developing underwriting talent within a company passionate about diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging.
What You'll Do
- Provide assurance that underwriting operations run efficiently and align with agreed rules and frameworks.
- Manage relationships between local and central operations, conducting risk-based assessments and reporting on results.
- Act as an effective liaison between Market Facing and Technical Underwriting teams.
- Participate in and lead underwriting reviews.
- Facilitate the Technical Underwriting Review process.
- Ensure the existence and quality of underwriting review procedures with supporting development strategies.
- Contribute to and lead the development and maintenance of governance tools and quality control peer review processes.
- Provide consultative support and training on local governance processes.
- Contribute to business effectiveness by monitoring activity and recommending changes.
- Perform analysis of quality outcomes.
- Ensure business compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate and support the technical development of underwriters through competence assessments and review activities.
- Provide guidance to lower-level associates and proactively support the development of self and others.
- Participate in Integrated Assurance Activities.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years of experience in Underwriting within the Property & Casualty insurance industry.
- OR a High School Diploma or equivalent and 8+ years of experience in Underwriting within the Property & Casualty insurance industry.
Nice to Have
- FCIP or other insurance designation.
- Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, risk selection, rating, and pricing concepts as they relate to profitability.
- In-depth underwriting knowledge in one or more lines of business, including procedures and policy terms.
- Knowledge of audit, governance, and controls.
- Advanced analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to think strategically.

Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation range: $95,000 – $145,000.
