About the Role

United Utility Power Services, LLC is hiring a UAS Pilot to join our team in the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) industry. You will provide ground and aerial field survey support to our Design, Permitting, and Construction Technicians, ensuring exceptional service to our clients. This position requires frequent travel and overnight stays at project sites.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct thorough pre-flight planning, including reviewing requirements, assessing weather, and developing flight plans.
  • Safely operate unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to capture visual and thermal data of T&D poles, following regulatory guidelines.
  • Utilize UAS-mounted cameras and sensors to collect accurate images, thermal scans, and LiDAR data.
  • Conduct visual inspections of T&D poles using captured data, identifying signs of damage, wear, or issues.
  • Analyze collected data, compare it against standards, and provide detailed reports or recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations throughout flight operations, mitigating risks near power lines.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections of UAS equipment for optimal performance.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to coordinate flights and share findings.
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and maintenance teams to support decision-making processes.
  • Stay updated on UAS technology advancements, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

What We're Looking For

  • Valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience operating UAS, preferably in the T&D industry.
  • Strong knowledge of T&D infrastructure, including power lines, poles, and related equipment.
  • Proficiency in operating various UAS platforms and associated software, including flight planning and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and safety guidelines for UAS operations in T&D.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct visual and thermal inspections using UAS-mounted cameras and sensors.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting for UAS inspections and surveys.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to identify and troubleshoot technical issues during operations.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in data collection and documentation.
  • A clean driving record.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
