Dundee, United Kingdom Remote (City) Full-time GBP 33000-36000/year

Ember is hiring a Tyre fitter - PSV - Dundee

About the Role

What You'll Do

As a tyre fitter specialising in PSVs, you’ll be responsible for the upkeep and servicing of tyres across a large fleet of electric coaches. Your work will directly impact fleet availability by identifying and resolving tyre issues swiftly to reduce downtime. You'll use hydraulic tyre machinery to carry out changes and maintenance tasks efficiently, while also analysing wear patterns to detect underlying mechanical causes related to suspension or drivetrain systems.

You’ll engage with remote diagnostic tools and internal software platforms to monitor tyre health and support proactive maintenance planning. As the first specialist in this role, you’ll help set standards and contribute to the development of new charging sites in Livingston and Glasgow, ensuring tyre operations align with broader infrastructure growth.

Requirements

You must have hands-on experience as a tyre fitter working with heavy vehicles, PSVs, or coach and bus fleets. A solid grasp of commercial tyre specifications—including load index, speed ratings, and pressure optimisation—is essential. You should be skilled at interpreting wear patterns and linking them to vehicle dynamics.

A full UK driving licence is required, with Category D or D1 preferred. You must be eligible to work in the UK and have a working knowledge of DVSA compliance standards. Proven familiarity with large-scale tyre systems and their operational demands is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

  • IMI or City & Guilds certification in tyre fitting or vehicle maintenance
  • Experience with electric vehicles and awareness of high-voltage safety procedures
  • Completion of EV awareness training or IMI Level 2 EV certification
  • Experience diagnosing and resetting TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems)
  • Background with local authority fleets or national bus operators

Technical Environment

You’ll work with hydraulic tyre machines, remote diagnostic systems, and proprietary in-house software platforms designed to streamline maintenance and reporting.

Benefits

  • Work on advanced electric coach technology at the forefront of sustainable transport
  • Join a company focused on innovation and environmental responsibility
  • Experience reduced physical strain thanks to modern hydraulic tools
  • Play a key role in scaling a rapidly expanding national fleet and charging network
  • Operate within a tech-forward environment that values problem-solving and continuous improvement
