Trupanion is looking for a dynamic and highly curious Accountant to join our team. This role is a critical member of our finance department in a rapidly growing public company, focusing on the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and analytics. You will work collaboratively to complete monthly close tasks and coordinate cross-functionally across teams and departments.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to the monthly close in accordance with US GAAP to meet reporting deadlines and ensure SOX compliance for related areas.
- Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations in areas such as revenue, claims, and cash.
- Work on ad-hoc special projects and analysis, including support for statutory reporting efforts.
- Prepare internal and external deliverables for SEC reporting, quarterly reviews, and year-end audits.
- Think critically to recommend, implement, and document process improvements that promote efficiency and compliance.
What We're Looking For
- BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, equivalent experience accepted.
- 2-3 years of accounting experience required.
- Experienced with GAAP and financial statements, with the ability to understand technical accounting concepts.
Nice to Have
- CPA certification preferred.
- Experience in a multi-entity environment is a plus.
- Month-end close in a fast-paced, evolving business environment and/or public accounting experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel; Workday experience a plus.
- Strong analytical ability and detail orientation.
- Desire to creatively problem-solve and innovate processes.

- Compensation: $68,000 - $80,000 + equity: Restricted Stock Units granted to all new team members, vesting over 4 years.
