Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Traveling Diesel Mechanic with extensive troubleshooting experience in medium and heavy-duty truck systems. This role is ideal for a self-sufficient, diagnostic-focused technician who can accurately identify issues and complete repairs efficiently — the first time.This position requires frequent travel throughout Texas, Louisiana, and other surrounding states. Candidates must be comfortable working independently in the field with minimal supervision.Key Responsibilities* Travel between job sites to inspect, diagnose, and repair medium and heavy-duty diesel trucks, skid steers, and related equipment. Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair of:* Diesel engines * Electrical systems * Hydraulic systems * Emissions systems (aftertreatment/DEF systems) * Transmissions * A/C systems * Hi-Rail gear systems * Spray systems * Utilize scan tools, diagnostic software, multimeters, pressure gauges, and other testing equipment to accurately identify mechanical and electrical failures. * Perform routine maintenance, emergency repairs, and preventative services. * Demonstrate strong working knowledge of diesel emissions systems and electrical diagnostics. * Complete repairs efficiently and correctly on the first attempt through accurate root-cause analysis. * Perform fabrication, welding, and cutting as required. * Maintain service truck organization, tool inventory, and parts accountability. * Maintain accurate service documentation and communicate repair updates with management. * Ensure full compliance with company safety standards and DOT regulations. * Work extended hours as needed and operate effectively in all weather conditions. Qualifications: * Minimum 5+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably with heavy-duty truck repair. Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and emissions systems (REQUIRED).* Strong understanding of aftertreatment systems and diesel emissions components. * Proven ability to work independently in remote environments with minimal supervision. * Fabrication and welding experience required. * ASE certifications are preferred but not required. * Valid driver’s license required; must be able to pass a DOT physical. Willingness to travel 100% frequently across multiple states. (Hotel accommodations and per-diem provided by DCS)* Must provide verifiable employment history and hands-on experience.
