Responsibilities
- Identify and implement operational improvements without compromising service quality
- Oversee integration and management of new cross-dock clients as needed
- Manage expanded vehicle fleet operations, including offsite parking logistics
- Act as the central coordination point between all operational areas to maintain efficiency
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members to build leadership and management capabilities
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations and transport legislation
- Supervise a network of approved third-party carriers for domestic and international transport
- Manage internal communication flows across the transport function
- Develop, negotiate, and execute service level agreements with customers in collaboration with other departments
- Evaluate and introduce process enhancements related to staffing and transport operations to boost performance
- Maintain a secure and safe workplace for employees and goods
- Support environmental initiatives such as recycling to reduce environmental impact
- Engage with key customers through regular meetings, including onboarding and performance reviews
- Deliver results within strict timelines for new projects and operational changes
- Provide strategic leadership and clear direction to the transport team
- Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of all company operator licenses
- Develop contingency strategies to protect operator license compliance
- Drive continuous improvement programs across transport functions
- Monitor and respond to emerging transport legislation proactively
- Manage transport operations using defined KPIs to measure performance
- Make sound daily administrative decisions to support team effectiveness
- Collaborate with retailers on supplier performance related to quality and cost
- Manage extensive UK and continental Europe supplier pickup operations
- Improve efficiency through consistent planning, supervision, and goal-setting for staff
