AECOM is seeking a Transmission Engineer to join our growing Energy Business Line. You will focus on Transmission and Distribution projects, performing critical engineering analysis and design for overhead transmission lines and preparing comprehensive construction packages.
What You'll Do
- Perform engineering analysis and design for overhead transmission lines, including structure loading, conductor sag/tension, foundations, and line routing.
- Prepare construction packages including plan & profile drawings, structure selection, material specifications, and engineering calculations.
- Utilize industry‑standard software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, and related tools.
- Support project lifecycle activities including scope development, cost estimating, scheduling, and field support.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and guidelines (NESC, ASCE, company standards).
- Coordinate with internal teams (siting/permitting, substation engineering, project management) and external stakeholders (contractors, vendors, regulatory bodies).
- Provide engineering support during construction, including responding to RFIs and performing field verifications.
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to continuous improvement of design standards.
- Identify and mitigate site issues such as geotechnical conditions, access and environmental constraints and constructability challenges by providing timely technical support.
- Interact with customer’s internal engineers and technical experts on a day-to-day basis.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients.
- Assists with the developing task and effort estimates for proposal support.
- Works to maintain positive working relationships with peers.
- Occasional travel required to other AECOM locations and Client sites.
- Able to participate in field walks and create field sketches, take dimensions, climb ladders, etc. as necessary.
