Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, lead, and control operations for Natural Resources Mineral commodities, focusing on Steel Making Raw Materials, Non-Ferrous concentrates and metals, Fertilizers, and Industrial Minerals.
- Achieve business objectives and ensure compliance with company policies and business guidelines.
- Handle sampling, analysis, weight control, visual inspection, loading, and supervision of bulk cargoes loaded or discharged from ocean-going vessels or shipping containers.
- Conduct warehouse due diligence inspections and stock audits or inspections.
- Plan, organize, lead, and control business operations at all major South African ports and inland locations.
- Manage and monitor operational performance.
- Control revenue and expenses for operations in line with operational budgets and business strategies.
- Set annual budget targets in collaboration with the Business Manager.
- Establish pricing policies in conjunction with the Business Manager.
- Ensure adequate and appropriate manpower resources, equipment, and tools are available for total operational efficiency.
- Effectively manage and continuously improve the quality management system, and implement certifications and accreditation systems within business lines.
- Control accounts receivable and Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
- Provide liaison and technical support to all current and potential clients.
- Address all complaints and resolve claims.
- Provide technical and sales support, as well as coordinate proposals.
- Stay informed about new trends, current developments, and relevant research.
- Attend all meetings as required by clients.
- Conduct relevant monthly meetings with management and support staff.
- Hold monthly service level agreement performance meetings with all business units and clients.
- Conduct quarterly client satisfaction surveys with all stakeholders.
- Ensure service level quality towards Business Managers and Managing Directors.
- Ensure all departments implement quality measures for ISO 9001 and ISO 17020, and that accreditation and certification are obtained and maintained.
- Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
