This role focuses on ensuring compliance with U.S. import regulations, including Section 232, USMCA, UFLPA, and other free trade agreements. The analyst is responsible for collecting and validating critical trade data such as melt/pour countries, material composition, and mill certifications for imported steel and aluminum components.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify and maintain part-level customs data, including HTS classifications, country of origin, and valuation attributes for thousands of imported materials.
- Request, review, and archive certificates of origin and chain-of-custody documents such as invoices, bills of lading, and production records.
- Support customs clearance processes during CBP detentions by conducting documentation audits and identifying high-risk suppliers or materials.
- Work with suppliers to ensure compliance with origin-qualification standards and maintain up-to-date records in Altana.
- Onboard suppliers into the master data system, using validation tools to close data gaps and ensure accuracy.
- Track documentation expiries, monitor supplier response rates, and maintain dashboards to flag compliance risks.
- Lead follow-up efforts for 232, UFLPA, and FTA documentation requirements, ensuring timely and complete submissions.
- Prepare case files for detained shipments, including checklists and remediation plans to resolve compliance gaps.
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Business, or a related field, with demonstrated experience in customs compliance, import/export controls, and documentation auditing. Familiarity with HTS coding, origin determination, and customs valuation is essential. Proficiency in SAP/GTS, advanced Excel skills, and experience with business intelligence tools are required. The role demands strong communication abilities for regular interaction with suppliers across regions and time zones.
Preference will be given to applicants with 3–6 years in trade compliance or import/export operations. A structured, detail-oriented approach and the ability to manage repetitive data processes with accuracy are critical to success in this position.
