Inkomoko is hiring a remote French Interpreter as an hourly consultant to facilitate communication across multilingual teams. You will provide accurate, real-time interpretation for meetings, workshops, and communications, enabling smooth collaboration and understanding.
What You'll Do
- Provide live interpretation (English ↔ French) during virtual or in-person meetings, workshops, and trainings.
- Support simultaneous interpretation for group events and consecutive interpretation for smaller discussions or interviews.
- Prepare in advance by reviewing meeting materials, agendas, or presentation content shared beforehand.
- Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and neutrality in all communications.
- Provide language and cultural clarification as needed to enhance understanding.
- Occasionally translate short written content (e.g., meeting notes or materials) as requested.
- Submit a brief monthly activity summary listing sessions interpreted, duration, and feedback.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in French–English interpretation.
- Demonstrated experience providing remote simultaneous interpretation using Zoom or similar platforms.
- Excellent command of both English and French (native or near-native fluency).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Languages, Communication, or a related field.
- Professional experience in development, business, or NGO settings.
- Familiarity with East African or Francophone African contexts.

Team & Environment
You will coordinate closely with the P&C, Operations, and Office of CEO teams to plan for interpretation needs, reporting to the Head of Talent Development.
Work Mode
This is a remote, hourly consultant role, with preference for candidates in the East Africa time zone.
